So, I decided to post this Primary 1 song remixed by The Shoes because everytime I play this song out, I always get asked, “WHO IS THIS, OMG, I THINK I JUST GOT A RAGING BONER, WHAT SONG IS THIS?”, and so on…
So here you go, enjoy and use with caution.

So everyone I seem to talk to in Brooklyn agrees that the best Bloody Mary is served at Enid’s. I agree with this 100% as I am rather picky with my Bloody Mary’s since it is my favorite daytime drink.
I might be missing some great ones in Manhattan since I never eat a weekend brunch on the other side of the bridge but that’s because Brooklyn has more than enough great mid-day food to keep me satisfied.
So if you know of any other great places to get a delicious Bloody Mary, do share. Or if you disagree that Enid’s is the best in Brooklyn in the BM category, do share as well.
Have a good Monday everyone,
Peter
In what has to be the most impressive airing out of bar space since Gin Lane disinfected the Village Idiot’s former home, the team behind GalleryBar and Plan B has completely gutted Julep, keeping only the chandeliers, and is poised to open Ella there on October 1. You’ll remember this is the bar we worried would be a “speakcheesy,” but owner Darren Rubell assures us he’s as tired of that trope as we are. “We wanted to capture the other side of 1920s,” he told us. “The glamour, decadence — all those things associated with Hollywood at the time.” To that end his partner, Jordan Boyd, got his uncle Carleton Varney, owner of esteemed design firm Dorothy Draper and Company, to give them some red half-moon banquettes left over from the green room at the Oscars, some kidney-shaped love seats, and the rest of it. The downstairs lounge has a piano, but rather than being a straight “piano bar” (you know, what the Beatrice was going to be?) as the press materials advertise, it will likely just hold intimate acoustic performances. And the bartenders (sorry, mixologists) have been asked to supply whatever bar snacks they can scrounge up before their shifts. Given the place’s location near Russ & Daughters, we’re hoping they’ll spring for caviar.

Now that it’s been, oh, almost two years since we declared the Beatrice the hip-staurant of the season (that was when it hadn’t opened and it was going to be a restaurant!), it’s about time to anoint a new one — but what will it Bea?
Incredibly, we may have found the answer. Hidden under Casanis, the undertrafficked Lower East Side bistro, is Chloe — no relationship to Sevigny (it’s named after an ex of the designer, who goes by the mysterious name of M). To date, it’s been holding preopening parties for the fashionable friends (e.g. folks at Nylon) of the owners, among whom are Casanis’ Sebastian Maczko and the refreshingly unpretentious face of the operation, Brooke Smy, who worked in production at Rolling Stone and now does events and marketing for Rockefeller Center. As you can see from our slideshow, this place looks just stunning enough (and familiar enough!) to make Bea-types feel right at home.
She might be a little smaller than the Beatrice (we didn’t bust out the measuring tape) but that hasn’t prevented dancing, and it has one thing the Bea doesn’t have: Casanis’ full menu is available from 7 p.m. (when it opens) till midnight. In fact, depending on how things go, escargot and the like may eventually be served until the current closing time of 2 a.m. (Monday through Saturday). The drinks are made using fresh juices and such — from what we tasted, they could use a little tweaking, but then you’re not coming here for the perfect Manhattan. It’s more about the thrill of the unmarked door — which, yes, will be closely guarded, though probably not as strictly as Angelo’s. Well, for now, at least. -Daniel Maurer

Since most of NYC seems to be in Paris this week, I am doing a post with the word, “FRANCE” in it to make it officially semi-French? Don’t ask me what I mean by semi-French.
Anyways, you may or may not be wondering, what is Dave listening to these days? Well I’m listening to a soft-electro-pop duo called Air France from Sweden. I highly recommend you give these Swedes a listen and purchase their album as soon as you can, before you start hearing Air France soundtracked into the next VW Jetta commercial.

Having those cravings for Mexican food?
Here are a few of my favorite NYC taco joints:
-MERCADITO, is one of my favorite places to grab a taco, their little bite size tacos don’t look like much but are packed full of banging flavors. Mercadito, just open a third restaurant called Mercadito Cantina which features a momofuku style setting.
La Esquina, is a no brainer and a great spot to get horchata when its hot outside.
Pinche Taqueria, just open up it’s kitchen recently in nolita and noho. It’s locale makes it an easy go-to spot when you are in a rush or just have that south of the border craving.
Lupe’s East LA Kitchen, is a spot that reminds me of a place I would go to in Austin. The food there isn’t overly spicy, and the food feels homemade. The decor, food, and location makes it a perfect lazy lunch spot and is reminiscent of some of my favorite east Austin taco joints
